Who actually owns Keter
Keter grew from a small workshop in Jaffa making resin combs and housewares in 1948 into a global manufacturer of resin garden storage and furniture, built up over decades by the Sagol family.
Since a 2016 deal, Keter Group has been majority-owned by BC Partners, a European private equity firm, with the Sagol family retaining a minority stake. Retail listings selling Keter products almost never mention this - they lean on the brand's decades-long reputation for resin durability without saying who's actually behind it today.
Keter vs wood: what you're actually trading off
Resin sheds like Keter's are built to resist fading, rusting, warping and rot without any repainting or sealing, go together in an afternoon, and stay lightweight enough to move if you ever need to. The catch: resin has a lower load-bearing capacity than wood or metal, and it needs a proper level base underneath to perform as advertised.
Wood's advantage is customisation - shelving, a loft, ramps, whatever your storage actually needs - and a traditional look some gardens want. The cost is ongoing upkeep: sealing, staining, pest control, and a real risk of rot if that maintenance slips. If low maintenance is the priority, resin wins outright; if you want to build the shed around specific storage needs, wood's flexibility is the real advantage.
Common Keter problems, and what causes them
Keter states its resin sheds are built to resist warping, rusting and peeling long-term. Real user reviews report a narrower but genuine set of issues: panels that warp or discolour under sustained sun and rain exposure, metal fasteners (used to secure panels even on an all-resin shed) rusting or seizing in humid conditions, and occasional roof-hinge failures where a roof panel has sheared at the hinge point. That's the pattern reviewers describe, not a measured failure rate, and a solid, level base plus keeping fasteners lightly maintained noticeably reduces the risk.
Keter warranty in the UK: it depends which product
There's no single Keter warranty figure. Standard storage boxes, like this page's Signature Ontario pick, carry a 2-year warranty. Premium shed ranges - Oakland, Newton, Artisan and DuoTech - carry a lifetime limited warranty instead, reflecting a real build-quality tier difference within the same brand.
Always check the specific product listing or the assembly instructions for your model's exact terms, and keep your receipt - it's your proof of purchase if you ever need to claim.
Do Keter sheds need a base, and will pests get in
Yes to the base - every Keter shed needs a firm, level surface underneath, most commonly concrete, though compacted gravel or paving slabs work too. Skipping this is the single most common cause of a door that won't close straight or a floor that flexes over time.
On pests: rats and mice can chew through most plastics, including shed-grade resin, under the right conditions - their teeth grow continuously, so gnawing is constant behaviour, not a targeted attack on your shed specifically. Sealing any gaps, keeping the area around the shed clear, and removing anything that attracts rodents in the first place are the practical defences, on a resin shed same as any other.
When Keter prices actually drop
Keter and its UK stockists run clearance-style sales fairly often on sheds and storage boxes, on top of Amazon's usual voucher mechanics.
The deepest, most reliable cuts tend to land around Black Friday and through winter clearance, when garden storage sees less seasonal demand. If today's price on this page isn't meaningfully below the RRP, the calendar says it's often worth waiting.
About this page
LightningBrands is an independent, hand-curated deals site. Keter is one of the brands we have chosen to feature; nobody at Keter picks what appears here or pays for placement. We check each featured product's price against Amazon UK's live listing, most recently on 2 August 2026, and remove anything out of stock. Deal links are Amazon Associates affiliate links, disclosed on our Privacy and Terms pages; the commission never changes the price you pay.
